The Wallace Toronto Foundation’s Sixth Annual 2012 In-Country Service Project in Žilina, Slovakia

On the first weekend of September 2012, Toronto Foundation supporters and more than 130 volunteers gathered for two days in Žilina, Slovakia, to provide physical and financial assistance to three different community improvement projects, including the relocation, renovation and maintenance of a kindergarten and nursery. Toronto volunteers also helped remove litter from the banks of the Žilina river and clear away vegetation for the city. The Toronto Foundation’s partners in this year’s annual service project were church members from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, along with the government of Žilina. Toronto supporters and volunteers donated financial assistance, supplies, and hundreds of hours of volunteer work to each of this year’s in-country partners.
